Entrepreneur James Phipps Comments on Swindon Social Enterprise Network
All businesses in Swindon get asked for help by charities and social causes at one point or another, but with the increasing financial challenges Swindon council are facing this is expected to continue to rise as they are able to other less and less support. As Swindon unemployment is incredibly low, Swindon needs to be a place people want to live and work so businesses can attract and retain their top talent so tackling social issues must be a priority.
The launch of the Swindon Social Enterprise Network on November 14th is designed to help the community make Swindon a great place to live and work by encouraging you to launch your own social enterprise or offer to help others to do so and be successful. There will be a few short presentations showing what the network wants to achieve and examples of what can be done if businesses and the public come together to create positive change and address the social issues we all know exist.
James Phipps, member of the network’s steering committee says “We are aiming to help charities and people trying to address social issues to become more sustainable. We aim to ensure there is less of a charitable burden on businesses in the years to come so I encourage any local business to register to come along, after all it is all our interest for Swindon to be a great place to live and work. We will have existing social enterprises, local businesses and support partners there so we know this will be a great use of any business leader or owner’s time.”
