ACCOUNTANCY TEAM PUT THEIR BEST FEET FORWARD FOR CHARITY!
A team of willing supporters from accountancy firm Haines Watts Swindon have raised over £450 for the charity Walking With The Wounded.
Each festive season, Haines Watts Swindon do something for charity and this year was no exception. They decided to join the national project ‘Walking Home For Christmas’ created by the charity Walking With The Wounded’ which supports military veterans who struggle with poor mental health or who struggle to gain employment after a career in the armed forces.
Martin Gurney, tax partner at Haines Watts Swindon, said: “This charity is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year, in a year when veterans with mental health difficulties have been particularly impacted by the pandemic. We have a number of clients who are ex-services and were challenged by one of them (thank you Alasdair MacDonald at Resilient Nutrition!) to join them in raising much-needed funds to show our appreciation.”
The team set out to walk 12 miles along the Aldbourne circular route in the north Wiltshire Downs on December 12.
“The weather was great and sunny, it was a long way to walk but we laughed, joked and had some great chats through the challenge. In a year when we have been working from home for weeks at a time, it was great to see each other, spend time together safely outdoors in the fresh air and raise money for a great cause,” Martin said.
Nationally, Haines Watts is a top 15 firm of Chartered Accountants who specialise in advising and supporting business owners, individuals and not-for-profit organisations locally and throughout the UK. The firm has been at the centre of the Swindon and West Wiltshire business communities for the last 25 years. Last year the group were named Accountancy Firm of the Year at the annual FDs’ Excellence Awards.
To date the Swindon team have raised more than £450 and donations can still be made to support them here - https://www.walkinghomeforchristmas.com/teams/haines-watts
