August Talk with Caroline Peyton

August is upon us, and the weather has been hot! It’s the month of holidays, summer fun and time off for many people. So how are small business owners coping with the month often known as ‘silly season’?

Today we’re talking to Caroline Peyton of Peyton Principles. Caroline is a Nutritionist, Naturopath and gut health expert who helps those who suffer with unresolved digestive and gut symptoms to finally find relief as well as supporting businesses with well being in the workplace. Peyton Principles is based in Swindon and the Cotswolds and online globally.

How was August for your business? Does this month hold any special significance in your business?
August tends to be quieter than other months and that, allowed me some breathing space to catch up on any non-client related work. Then again, I’ve just signed up three new clients in the past week so August wasn’t so quiet after all!

What were your personal plans for this month? Can you give us a ‘tip’ for places to visit during this summer month?
For the first time in two years, I visited our holiday home. We now have grown-up children so will usually avoid the school holidays, but I was keen to go!

There are some lovely small Gloucestershire based attractions like Painswick Rococco Gardens, Prinknash Abbey Gardens and Woodchester Mansion.

August 20 was World Photo Day – can you share a photo which means something to you this year so far?
I was delighted to be asked to be a judge at this year’s leading health foods Nourish Awards and I’m looking forward to hearing the results September. Judging is open so please vote! You have a chance of winning a hamper filled with winning products!

Did you know August 21 was World Entrepreneurs Day? What does this word mean to you? Do you apply it to yourself?
It’s only recently that I have come to recognise that I am an entrepreneur. I left a corporate role to retrain and set up my business twelve years ago. I am always looking to develop my business and create new service offerings. I read that an entrepreneurial mindset is a set of skills that enable people to identify and make the most of opportunities, overcome and learn from setbacks and succeed in a variety of settings. I like to think that is me.

Can you name one business you’d like to give a summer shout out too? Who has gone the extra mile for you recently?
Hannah Edwards of Empowered VA Services. She steps in at short notice when I require extra support and does so with professionalism. I know I can rely on her.

Have you got any events planned for the autumn you’d like to shout about – either that you are running or attending?
