Brett King's 2021 Summer Business Plan

Today we're talking to Brett King who works in the business development team at Excalibur Communications based at Priam House, Fire Fly Avenue, Swindon. Excalibur is a values driven business, supporting small and medium organisations with their business communications and IT.

May is the last month of Spring – how has Spring been for you so far? 

Exceptionally busy, which is superb! We have been helping a lot of businesses and schools transition to the new ways of working – from home working to teaching virtually. 

What are your plans for the Summer – for your business and for you? 

Work hard, play hard (when able). We have missed out on a lot of celebrations in Covid so are expecting some great times ahead as the world comes into a new ‘normal’. 

What are you most looking forward this summer which you had to step away from last summer? 

FACE TO FACE HUMAN INTERACTION! 

May is National Walking Month, and walking was an activity which was one thing we could do over the last 12 months.  

I spend a lot of my life walking, two or three dog walks daily, as well as big weekend walks. Excalibur accomplished the Three Peaks Challenge in 2019 which was incredible. I also started this month of May 2021 doing almost 150,000 steps around the Lake District!

Where is your favourite place to walk? 

Dartmoor National Park, Snowdonia, The Brecon Beacons or The Lake District.

Can you name one day in May which is important for you in your business or in your personal life? Why is that date important? 

May the 4th be with you – Star Wars Day (just a bit of fun!)

Have you got any events planned for the coming months which you’d like to mention – where you and/or your business will take a leading role? 

Pedal To Paris - September 2021 – Excalibur Cycle Team are going! 

Are you attending (have you booked) any events at all for you as a business person, or for you personally that you are really looking forward to? Eg festivals, trade shows, concerts, theatre…

Reading Festival is booked for August, fingers crossed it can all go ahead! 

What’s your one top business tip to help others be positive about their business in May 2021? 

We are all in the same boat currently, so treat others as you would like to be treated and provide support where able. Also, ask for help, we are here. 

Tell us all one funny thing about you which we won’t know and you are happy to share (make us laugh!).

Maybe more weird than funny, but I (and my better half) have full blown conversations with our dog Archie, as if he is human and can actually talk back!
