Your Total Guide To Business

My Strategy For Surviving Coronavirus

By Jamie Martin of Correct Careers Coaching who works with sole traders and SMEs to develop their sales strategy and processes for improving their gross sales. He also delivers modern sales training including social media marketing/prospecting, lead generation, new business conversion, client relationship management, customer service, negotiation and sales psychology.

When did you realise the Coronavirus was going to be a real problem for business?

When the UK government advised us all to limit social contact and to avoid working outside the home. I then realised this would have an immediate impact.

How are you planning to cope?

My strategy has now changed to work fully from home and communicate with clients and customers via Zoom conferencing and telephone. I will deliver my sales training over via video conferencing to businesses/employees.  I can liaise via telephone and email for the required information I need to write any reports then required.

What advice would you give to others in business?

I would advise other businesses to communicate with their clients/customers also via Zoom conferencing and the telephone. I would also advise to embrace social media and, if you've been playing at it, then get serious. I'd advise for business owners to focus primarily on LinkedIn for social media marketing of their service/products and engaging with prospects.

What can we do to help each other?

To help one another in our communities, I believe we should follow the government’s policy and avoid social contact as much as possible. To help each other we can proactively support their social media activity by liking and sharing posts. I will happily work with anyone via Skype or Zoom to  provide advice on how to adapt to continue business productivity.

What do you think can be learned from this for all businesses?

Not to take anything for granted. Consider how quickly things can go wrong and how a domino effect can begin. Always identify modern ways of doing business/working with clients and customers. Be agile and embrace technology and social media which for many will now be a lifeline both for their business and their mental wellbeing.
