Excalibur CEO James Phipps Speaks Out About Business Growth in Swindon
As a brand new entry to the top 150 SME list, Excalibur CEO James Phipps was asked by Insider to speak at their Business growth breakfast on 26th February.
Growing businesses all share common challenges, such as where to seek funding and advice for the next stage of growth and how to attract and retain top talent.
At Insider’s Swindon Business Growth breakfast, the aim is to find out just how strong the support network provided by local authorities and other organisations is in the Swindon and Wiltshire area and what more can be done to boost the local economy.
Key public sector stakeholders who hold power and influence to act as agents for change were in attendance at the event, where Swindon and Wiltshire’s SMEs came to learn from the region’s heavy hitters. Company directors with big growth objectives, such as James gave some insight as to how they are leading the way forward.
The format was a brief Q&A about Excalibur’s growth story, followed by a panel-led debate. James talked about Excalibur, its growth story, and where it’s heading. The focus of the event was on Swindon and Wiltshire and so questions were asked on the pros and cons of doing business in the region – what are the blockers to business, what are the area’s strengths and where public money should be spent.
James commented ‘This morning was a productive event for the community and some good ideas and insight were given. I hope that everyone came away with key pointers on achieving success in the area and a hopeful outlook on Swindon & Wiltshire with due to its great identity and diversity. If businesses get their offering right for the market and adapt to change well, it’s key to the success of the region.’
