Former Capita Events Manager Starts a New Agency

Former event manager at Capita Travel and Events, Beckie Hyson, has branched off to start her own agency, The Events Raccoon.

Beckie Hyson said she made the decision to start her own business while travelling for three months earlier this year, after she had been looking for her next challenge.

"I'd progressed well in my previous role, had some great relationships with clients and suppliers and had a fantastic team but something was missing," she explained.

"I wanted to take my experience and make a difference; see my personality come through in something and so, just like that, on a beach in the Philippines, the decision was made. I’d set up my own agency."

Hyson’s career history spans 8 years in the industry having worked on a variety of events within the UK and across the globe. She started her journey as a conference consultant before becoming an event manager, a client development manager and most recently working as an events development manager to grow, develop and manage events for new and existing customers.

The Events Raccoon will combine the industry experience gained from a large corporate company with the passion of a start-up agency, its strapline, ‘creativity is a wild mind and a disciplined eye’ is a core value that will be brought to each event it is invited to work on.

Hyson said she was excited to see where her Swindon agency will take her over the next few years, adding ‘’the goal isn’t world domination, but simply to make a difference in an industry that gets me out of bed each day with a grin on my face and a fire in my belly ".
