Growth for Swindon Care at Home Company
A Swindon-based care at home company has doubled its customer base in six months and is looking for more staff to help meet growing demand.
Bluebird Care Swindon, which has been operating since October 2011, now looks after more than 100 people.
Ben Curtis, Bluebird Care Swindon managing director, said the growth was due to the excellent reputation and quality service his team provides. He said his company is increasingly the go-to care at home provider for Swindon Council social services, particularly when looking for care for adults with learning difficulties and elderly people.
“When we started less than four years ago, there was just me and a manager and one or two carers,” he said. “Now we have five in our office and nearly 40 care workers and we are taking on more people all the time. Since Christmas, we have doubled our number of customers and we deliver nearly 900 care hours a week. This is due to our reputation for providing good, old-fashioned care. Most of our customers are private, and they come to us because they’ve heard about the great service we provide.”
Bluebird Care Swindon manager Katrina Simms, who joined in October, has extensive experience of social care. She started her career as a carer, and still makes time to deliver care for Bluebird Care. Katrina has a particular interest in providing care at home for people with learning disabilities.
She said: “We have grown really rapidly but we are still an independent company, unlike the really large providers, and that means we can give a much more personal, responsive service.
“We are taking on new customers all the time, so we are always looking for new staff to join the team.”
