Highworth Salon Scoops Top Hair Award

Investing in the future of staff with a combination of traditional and innovative training has won a Highworth based hair salon national recognition.

Karoliina Saunders Hair Design in Sheep Street, Highworth, won the Best Salon Education category in the national Salon Business Awards.

The awards, organised by trade magazine Salon Business, are open to hair salons across the UK and attract thousands of entries each year.

Awards Founder, Joanne Charlton said the judges were impressed with how talent was developed at every level within Karoliina’s salon.

She added: “This salon executes a first class education programme for all staff, irrelevant of their position, while incorporating various avenues to develop their staff.”

For Karoliina, who has run the salon for 5 years, winning the award was a real coup. She also reached the finals in the Best Salon Team and Ultimate Salon categories.

She said: “Education is my passion. I am proud that my team members have sought out my salon because they want to benefit from a varied, intensive and on-going training programme.”

While training regularly takes place in the salon working on models and understanding the theory of hairdressing, Karoliina believes that inspiring her team is a great way to develop their knowledge.

She regularly takes team members with her when she works backstage at London Fashion Week and on photos shoots across the UK. Her colleagues were even involved in prepping hair pieces and accessories for her appearance in TV show Extreme Hair Wars.

Team member Jordy Barlow travels more than an hour each day to work with Karoliina in the salon. He applied to work at Karoliina Saunders Hair Design because he had read about the opportunities to get involved in a variety of exciting projects outside the salon.

And, since joining the salon 12 months ago, he has risen to all the challenges working with Karoliina has presented.

He said: “Working with Karoliina is always exciting and every day brings new challenges both inside the salon and outside too.”
