House of St John’s share how membership with them can benefit their charity partner in 2023
We’re at the beginning of May and there is a lot coming up this month including the Coronation, National Walking Month and more. Today we’re talking to the House of St John’s who are sharing how membership with them can benefit their charity partner.
House of St John’s is an exclusive workspace and private members club, offering businesses and individuals a variety of Private Offices, Dedicated Desk and Co-working.
Here at the House of St John’s, we’re proud to support individuals, businesses and charities across Bath. Becoming a member of the House not only supports your business and personal growth but also positively influences the community around you. All profits generated from membership are gifted to our charity partner, the St John’s Foundation, to be used for their Foundation Fund - a fund that provides all children with the same chances to live happy, healthy lives.
We wanted to take the opportunity to shine a spotlight on St John’s and share some of the inspiring work the charity has been doing recently.
In the face of the continuing cost of living crisis, St John’s has recently initiated a scheme to provide free hot meals for over 700 children from seven local primary schools. The scheme - which will run until Summer 2024 - aims to help families who fall outside the free school meal eligibility criteria though may still need support with providing meals for their children.
Nationally the figure for those known to be living in poverty but who are not registered for free school meals sits at 1.6million. The eligibility criteria for free school meals means that children above Year 3 (8 years old) must live in a household receiving income-related benefits, with an annual income – after tax and not including welfare payments – of no higher than £7,400 a year, or £142.30 a week.
A headteacher from the of the schools involved in the scheme shared:
“Some of our parents were not sure if it was real and sent their children in with packed lunches just in case. There were some very happy children today and lots of the kids had seconds! I sat and ate with them as usual, but there was just so much joy and lots of full stomachs”.
Here at the House of St John’s, providing support to everyone in our community is integral to our ethos. We’re proud to be working alongside St John’s as they continue to work towards giving all children a fair future. By becoming a member of the House of St John’s you become part of a community-wide movement striving to give all children a fair and equal start in life.
