INVESTMENT IN CHIPPENHAM CONTINUES AT HISTORIC ANGEL HOTEL
More than £1m invested in the last 12 months.
The next phase of upgrading work has begun to deliver a fresh look for the bedrooms, bathrooms, bar and public areas of one of Chippenham’s iconic hotels, The Angel.
The Angel Hotel at Market Place is a Grade II listed building which was originally a 17th century coaching inn. In the past couple of years, the hotel has seen more than £260,000 invested into upgrading its infrastructure. Now work has begun on upgrading its bathrooms, refreshing its bedrooms and delivering completely new public areas, ultimately offering guests an entirely new look and feel whilst staying true to the building. This current phase of work reflects a further investment of about £850,000.
Manager Gary Install said: “This is the latest planned phase of capital investment that has been made in the hotel since it became operated by Legacy Hotels & Resorts back in 2015. I am grateful we have the support of hotel owners who seek to invest in their assets. During 2019, the gym was refurbished with new equipment installed and in 2018 the kitchen was completely upgraded. These works followed the initial project the now owners undertook on acquiring the building which was the complete dismantling and rebuilding of the hotel’s historic front porch.
“In 2020, it’s time for the bedrooms to undergo a make-over as well as the public spaces including the bar and the dining area. The new look will offer something modern yet respecting the heritage of the hotel.”
Work has already begun on the bedrooms with the first phase back in use. The planned works to the public spaces over the next few weeks will feature an updated colour palette, new furniture, moulded panels, new ambient lighting and the hotel will also feature artwork and interesting artefacts. The new layout will introduce a new, larger reception and welcome lounge area and a total refit of the restaurant and bar including a feature height wall bar and cosy banquette seating.
“We know our guests – both business and leisure – will love the new look and warmth of The Angel. We are still be open for business during the latest works and remain grateful to all our hotel guests for their support and co-operation during this exciting period. The works are due to be fully completed by the end of April,” Gary said.
