James Phipps Shortlisted for Major Regional Business Award
CEO of IT and communications specialists Excalibur Communications, James Phipps has been shortlisted for Director of the Year at the Institute of Directors South West Director Awards.
Swindon-based Excalibur provides business communications, including mobiles, landlines, broadband and IT support to over 5500 companies UK wide.
Run by CEO James Phipps, the company is a Vodafone Platinum and Microsoft Gold Partner amongst its other industry accreditations.
James is responsible for the overall vision, culture and strategy of Excalibur and is passionate about delivering an industry leading service. He has spoken at many public events on service, culture and his passion for SME's.
Community is at the heart of what Excalibur do. James supports many charities and organisations, sitting on various boards and has been the driving force behind Excalibur supporting over 100 good causes in the last 2 years.
Excalibur's chosen charity for 2014, is the RUH Bath Teenage Cancer Ward Appeal. The company has committed to raising £50,000 over the year to fit out the new ward as part of the brand new treatment centre being built.

We want to change the way businesses work to make them more flexible and therefore increase productivity and revenue.”

Most recently James has supported the BIOS Mobile Youth Club van, an initiative helping keep young people off the streets, offering them mentoring and activities to help them choose a better path in life.
The Institute of Directors South West Director Awards aim to recognise and celebrate the role of leaders and their contribution to the South West region.
Judging will cover all the key elements of business success, including financial performance, managing growth, employee engagement, innovation, reputation management and ethical behaviour.
If successful, James and other regional award winners will go on to compete for the national awards this autumn.
