My Back To Business Strategy
By Jamie Martin who is managing director of Swindon-based Correct Careers Coaching which is a modern sales training and sales strategy business to improve revenue and gross sales.
Summarise how Covid-19 has affected your organisation?
Covid-19 has impacted my business by decreasing the opportunities to connect with other business owners and decision-makers through face to face/networking events - this was one of the main avenues I would convert new business.
The need for businesses to engage with my sales training programmes has been affected, due to other businesses being concerned for their own cash flow.
What has been your plan to continue?
To be adaptable and continue to deliver my sales training with a personalised approach. Instead of doing this face-face, I am now doing this virtually over Zoom.
I have created and will be launching soon a new sales training programme aimed at SMEs & corporates (predominantly professional or business services.
Or for employees who have had limited customer interaction/sales training and might need a refresher for building new business relationships to improve their performance at work.
How have things changed over the last few months?
My business has mostly changed by delivering my sales training and workshops virtually - over Zoom.
Although this sounds like an easy change - you need to upskill and learn Zoom but also how to engage and communicate with others effectively virtually - so they still receive the same value from my sales training.
As lockdown eases what measures have you put in place to get back to business?
My aim is to continue to stay visible on social media. As well as arranging Zoom meetings with existing clients to maintain relationships and build relationships with new customers to get back to business.
What has been the most challenging aspect of all of this?
Not having the social connection/face-face experience with other's - I am a people person and it has been challenging to now only doing this virtually.
What has been the most positive aspect?
To be more grateful for what I have rather then what I want. As well as spending more quality time with the family and dogs.
Has it made you consider how you feel about other businesses/suppliers/customers/clients for good or otherwise?
I feel that the emotional bonds and support I have received from businesses during this time, will become my first choice when selecting a service/product from the range of competitors moving forward.
The businesses who have shown any support regarding helping with the Covid-19 situation also during this time will be businesses and people I want to work with.
How important is this phrase to you – ‘buy local, supply local’?
It's important for the local business community to survive and thrive post-Covid-19, so the unemployment rates don't increase in our town.
Buying & supplying continues the trade within the local business community helping us all to work with and use each other's services.
What are your top tips at this time?
1. Be active and engage with others via social media primarily LinkedIn
2. Work on your business i.e. your strategy and processes
3. Focus on your people or yourself (if a sole trader) - invest in your training and development for the new norm.
How can we buy from you?
My ‘Sales Psychology’ programme had this recent feedback:
"I've had a coaching session with Jamie and he is amazing at what he does. If you need advice he is the one to talk to!"
'Sales Psychology' is designed for people within a business to business sales/client interaction role.
The first two individuals/businesses to contact me (quoting TGT2020) will receive a 50% discount on the cost of the course.
Your parting thought?
Stay proactive and positive - the business community will thrive again.
