Joanne Savill of Lighting Bug Swindon has a busy summer coming up!
It’s almost the end of July and the school holidays have started! We’ve been speaking to businesses to find out what this month will bring for them.
Up today is Joanne Savill, Director of Lighting Bug Swindon. They specialise in interior and exterior lighting and are based on Westmead Industrial Estate.
What are your plans for July in your business?
We are promoting our exterior lights and LED ceiling fans, ensuring our customers' gardens look their best, and homes are kept cool! Whilst in the background preparing for our future celebrations… Lighting Bug Swindon will have traded for over 20 Years!
What are your personal plans for this month?
Both Brenda (Owner of Lighting Bug/My Mum) and myself had a great day out at the Royal International Air Tattoo, we love attending this local event as a family.
Does July hold any particular significance for you or your business/organisation?
No but next month we will be starting our celebration, as we will have been open for 20 years!
Do you like sport – and if so do any sporting tournaments or events stand out for you this month?
Lighting Bug are proud sponsors of Highworth Town Juniors Under 10’s H Team, and we love to support them, especially cheering them on at their football tournaments.
On a much lighter note, July 17 was World Emoji Day and this often trends on social media. What do you think of emojis?
Our favourite emoji must be the light bulb??
Can you name one business you’d like to give a summer shout out too?
Local businesses working together and promoting each other's services is incredibly important, we would like to give a shout out to Digital Trading. They have created an amazing website for us and continue to support our business as we develop.

As a consumer have you visited a local business, bought their products or services and thought ‘I must recommend them’?
Weigh it Up, in Highworth is a brilliant shop, offering a large selection of refillable and eco friendly products. It’s a lovely addition to Highworth!
Have you got any events planned for the coming months which you’d like to mention?
I am responsible and have taken the lead role in the development of our showroom, in preparation of celebrating Lighting Bug’s 20-year anniversary this summer.
I’m grateful for our dedicated team of staff, who have helped achieve what we have so far. Many of our display areas have been stripped back, made good and switched, ready for our customers to see our light fittings at their best! We are in no means finished, but I am incredibly proud, and it would be a privilege to show off what has been accomplished so far at this year’s summer party.
Are you raising money for charity or volunteering this month in any way?
In our showroom, we have a large box of discontinued and ex display lamps/bulbs; where customers can take and leave a suggested donation, our recent collection raised £107.77 for the RNLI! This prevents the lamps being sent to landfill, whilst raising funds and awareness for an important charity.
Have you got any services or special offers you’d like to mention?

Anything else you’d like to say?
As an independent family run business, we would love to take this opportunity to thank those who continue to buy and support locally, you make our day!
