July Talk with Tara Cozens

It's July the second summer month and it's the time when school ends of the academic year and holiday season begins. So what's July looking like for you in your business, organisation or role. Today we're talking to Tara Cozens who is the founder of TLC Property, an independent estate & letting agent based in Swindon & the surrounding areas. Tara has run her own business for over three years and has worked in the industry for almost 20 years.

What are your plans for July in your business?
We have a busy month planned, with lots of sales due to complete and new tenancies starting so will be focusing on getting those through.

What are your personal plans for this month?
It’s my partner's birthday this month, so I am taking him away for a surprise break. Can't say too much about that though as it will spoil the surprise!

Do you like sport – and if so do any sporting tournaments or events stand out for you this month?
To be honest I am not a major sports fan, growing up with four brothers and a football mad Dad, I was often made to watch the football so now I try to avoid it as much as possible! I do like watching big boxing matches though!

On a much lighter note – July 17 is World Emoji Day and this often trends on social media. What do you think of emojis?
I always use emojis when I am messaging. I think they are great when you expressing an emotion like anger. And I guess that's the point, it's a visual and quick way to express a feeling. My favourite one is probably when the figure is hitting their head, I use this a lot!

Can you name one business you’d like to give a summer shout out to?
One business owner is Jodie Fraser at Fraser Allen Estate Management which operates across the region. When business gets tough she is brilliant for being at the end of the phone. Also Fiona Scott, of Scott Media as she really cares about you as more than a client which is so lovely.

As a consumer have you visited a local business, bought their products or services and thought ‘I must recommend them’!

Are you raising money for charity or volunteering this month in any way?
I volunteered with the Swindon Night Shelter previously and I really hope to do that again soon!
