June Talk with James Harris

It’s June and we’re half way through the year – it’s also officially the first month of Summer and we've just had a long weekend to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. What does this month mean for you and your business? Today we're talking to James Harris who is an independent mortgage adviser with Wiltshire-based TED Mortgages, offering mortgage and protection advice to first time buyers, home movers and those needing to remortgage.

JUNE is the first month of Summer – what will you be doing this summer in your role?
I am very much looking forward to the summer weather!  I think like many of us, I am quite keen to get out in the garden and get this sorted as it needs some much needed TLC.  

My home has been a project since we took it on, and I have not yet had the chance to get properly stuck into the garden, so I’m looking forward to getting this completed.

If I get my way, I may be able to create a nice space where I can take the laptop outside and work!

What are your personal plans for Summer activities?
I have booked tickets with some friends to head off to Ascot on June 17th.  This should be a good day out, especially as I have never been before!

We also have quite a busy summer with family birthdays coming up, particularly July.

My daughter will turning one in early August so I am also quite looking forward to this to share her first birthday with her and the family! 

Does June hold any particular significance for you or your business?
TED Mortgages had its 4th birthday last month – a pleasing milestone for us as our business continues to grow.  

We haven’t managed to fully celebrate this as a team just yet, so a team meal could be on the cards this month!

June is often associated in nature with growth and abundance – what are your plans for growth this year?
I always like to track my business month on month and year on year.  I am very encouraged to see that each month this year I have submitted more mortgages than the same month last year.  

This shows positive signs that all is heading in the right direction and that my clients are happy with the service I am offering. It is a great feeling to be kept busy and helping so many people with some of the biggest decisions in their lives.

As we hit this mid point of 2022– which one business has really supported or helped you over the last quarter? 
Just one! 

A  big thank you goes to Fiona Scott from Scott Media! Fiona and her team have been fantastic promoting the TED team and keeping us on track with our media relations.

We would also like to thank the local estate agents that we work with – we are very proud of our ongoing working relationships with them!

Not to forget, a huge thank you to our clients for supporting us in these busy times!

Have you got any events planned for the coming months which you’d like to mention?
The TED Mortgages team have a charity event coming up on Saturday 9th July.

We will be taking part in a 100km non-stop ultra marathon to raise funds for SN Dogs, a local Swindon based charity caring for and rehoming dogs that need a forever home.

This is something that myself and the team will need to train for, so no doubt we will have some long walks and a few running sessions booked in!

We are aiming to raise £3000 by the end of 2022 for SN Dogs so any donations towards this target would be greatly appreciated.

June 30 is Social Media Day – what does social media mean to you and your business? What are your favourite social media platforms?
Social media is a great way for us to interact with our existing and potential clients.  We enjoy posting content on our Facebook and Instagram pages to give people the potential things to look out for in the market and what areas to consider with regards to mortgages and protection.  

It’s also a great way for us to keep people updated on our business and what we have going on.
