June Talk with Paul Carroll

It's almost the end of June and the second month of summer is on the horizon. Wimbledon is starting, summer fever is building and holiday season is kicking in. What news from the local business community? Today we're talking to Paul Carroll who is the owner and trainer at Wiltshire-based MeadgateSC which offers outdoor activity and first aid courses.

JUNE is the first month of Summer – what will you be doing this summer in your business?
We will be running Duke of Edinburgh Award expedition activities as well as Safety for Stand Up Paddleboarding and our regular first aid courses.

What are your personal plans for Summer?
To get outdoors, stay outdoors and be active!

June is often associated in nature with growth and abundance – what are your plans for growth in your business?
We wish to offer far more courses! More Duke of Edinburgh activity now that Covid19 restrictions have eased, more  Paddleboard and SUP Safety courses too.

As we hit this mid point of 2022– which one business has really supported or helped you over thelast quarter? 
Over the last quarter Bath Paddleboard Centre with regular safety and rescue courses, prior to that Bath District Scouts with regular first aid courses

Have you got any events planned for the coming months which you’d like to mention?
Working with the Wiltshire Outdoor learning team to deliver training and expeditions to a school for their Duke of Edinburgh Award Silver level expedition on the River Wye in early July

June 1 to 7 this year was Volunteers Week – do you volunteer at all?
Yes, at Bath Canoe Club, I have been a volunteer coach there since 2010. I love the sport and was assessed as an instructor there in July 1978...so a few years ago!

June 30 is Social Media Day – what does social media mean to you and your business? What are your favourite social media platforms?
Facebook only – it's the only one I can use but have not mastered!
