Let’s Celebrate Local!
By Frances Nash, Associate Family Lawyer at Awdry, Bailey & Douglas Solicitors in Chippenham.
How are you feeling about business in general?
Positive! We’ve survived lockdown and business is currently buoyant. Although the ongoing uncertainty of the pandemic makes it difficult to think too long term.
Tell us how you now apply this phrase to your business and/or life ‘buy local supply local’.
Being in town every day means that I can more easily shop from small local independents, rather than relying on one large, weekly supermarket shop.
I didn’t appreciate how much I’d enjoy being able to help clients from my home town and refer to local businesses.
What has changed for you positively as a result of lockdown?
Lockdown was such a strange and uncertain time, but it did bring our communities together. I found people had more time, were more patient, considerate, understanding and friendly. I am trying to continue these characteristics.
Coincidentally I moved to work in our Chippenham office, my home town. For the first time in my career I am able to walk to work, which takes less time and the exercise is good for my physical and mental well-being. I am also surprised how much more it means to be working in my own community.
Tell us what makes a ‘good’ local business.
