How are you feeling about your business?
Things are wonderful, we’ve weathered the storm and things are on the up!
How are you feeling about business in general?
I think a lot of people are still optimistic but cautious. Business owners and consumers can see things are picking up however they need to see this continue for confidence to grow.
Tell us how you now apply this phrase to your business and/or life ‘buy local supply local’.
As someone who is Swindon born and bred, I’ve always appreciated and valued local businesses including shops. For me, it’s about supporting your community as much as possible and then that community will support you.
What has changed for you positively as a result of lockdown?
I have enjoyed the time spent at home as a complete family with my wife and daughters – this is especially as my eldest daughter has recently moved into her own first home, which marks a significant milestone for her and for us!
What makes a good local business?
It’s about mutual support, especially during this incredibly strange period of time.
I think we’ll remember businesses that cared and supported each other, even when they were in difficulty themselves. Those that didn’t show empathy and compassion could find themselves in trouble.
Can you name a local independent business which you support around food & drink?
We bought loads of ice cream from Rays Ice Cream which offered a real treat during lockdown and since - how they pivoted that business was sensational and worthy of recognition.

Can you shout out to any local clients you wish to celebrate?

2. Mike Land of Nickel Design - https://nickeldesign.co.uk
3. Lloyd Smith of Incarcerated - https://incarcerated.co.uk
Can you name someone who has really helped you during this time?
Fiona Scott, of Fiona Scott Media who has been my business buddy and been a sounding board for sharing thoughts and experiences during this time.
Can you name on person in your life who has really helped you during this time?
My wife Ali, who has supported me and believed in me throughout my journey in business over the past 17 years. She has selflessly taken care of the family, and worked, allowing me to take care of the business. Her support during lockdown has been unwavering.
What are your business plans for Q4?
During Q4, my plans are to move forward from coronavirus and to maintain the organic growth which is coming through as well as supporting our existing clients, some of whom we've worked with for 17 years.
Anything else you’d like to say?
Thank you to every business owner who has supported me through being a client or supplier, through sharing my social media posts and information and for offering inspiration and hope generally during a very tough economic period. I'm proud to be part of the business community in Swindon, it is a community which is hard to beat for its caring and compassion.
