Meet Claire Brewerton from The Virtual Business Centre - Summer Q&A 2021
It's July the second summer month and this month has two main themes - are we going to have more freedom and what about all of that sport on offer?
Today we're discussing some of those things with Claire Brewerton who is managing director of The Virtual Business Centre, telephone answering service provider based in Wiltshire.
What are your plans for July & August in your business?
To take a strategic look at the plans for the business over the next five years, this is a great time to take stock and plan for the future.
What are your personal plans for the summer?
We have just experienced our youngest son's final day at primary school and the emotions that went with it. Now we have no children at primary school and our eldest going into higher education as our other son moves on to college. It's all change for us!
Does July hold any particular significance for you?
As I have three children it usually signals the end of the academic year and this year marks the move for my youngest child from primary to secondary school, my eldest from school to university. As I said it's all change and a big year for us as a family.
July 19 was dubbed ‘freedom day’ what things will you be looking forward to in business and life that you’ve had to put on hold?
During August welcoming back more of the team into the office and getting my extended family together safely for a BBQ. We're hoping for a little break somewhere in the UK too.
It’s also the month when the summer Olympics – Tokyo 2021 – begin. Do you have an Olympic thoughts you’d like to share?
I think I’d have a less literal thought about this one. For me the Olympics has parallels with the last 18 months. When I think of athletes I think of how we have had to adapt to lives with self discipline over social distancing and self isolation and how we are all working towards that end goal. For me,my team has shown huge resilience and determination to make a success of the situation. All winners in my eyes!
July is often associated with sport in the UK – with other events like the British Open (golf) and also Wimbledon? How important is sport to you in your life or business?
Not a recognised sport but I enjoy the outdoors and walking. It gives me time and space and I find it hugely therapeutic.
On a much lighter note – July 17 was World Emoji Day and this often trends on social media. What do you think of emojis?
Massive fan of emojis much to the horror of my children.
Can you name one business you’d like to give a summer shout out too? Who has gone the extra mile for you recently?
My whole team and my family. They are amazingly supportive.
Have you got any services or special offers you’d like to mention?
Yes! Our business is structured to help with short term cover for holidays, we work on a rolling month basis. Our experienced staff are used to working with all nature of businesses including solicitor firms, estate agents, garden maintenance and many more.
