Denise Little from MindReset - Summer August Q&A 2021
It's August and the height of summer although the weather may not always reflect that. Often in business it can be a slower month as children are not at school, parents take time off and many people take a break. Will this year be as different as last year? Time will tell.
We've been talking to various business owners about their summer and autumn plans and today we're talking to Denise Little aka “Plumber for your mind” the founder of MindReset. Based in Malmesbury, Denise helps people unblock the pipes in their mind which are blocked with unruly thoughts. She supports those who feel held back by negative self talk and crippling doubt, by using various therapies and techniques.
How is August looking in your business?
I always see August as a time for building. Being a teacher for many years, August was always the month where your mind went into overdrive about the new year and what you needed to do to prepare lessons, classrooms etc. So I still do this. I build things I want to do in my business for the next 6-12 months.
What are your personal plans for this month – if you are happy to share?
I am taking time off and visiting places I haven’t seen for years – this is the staycation year so I am going to visit places like Durdle Door, maybe even be a tourist in Malmesbury for the day – it’s full of history! And The Abbey Gardens are amazing!
The Olympics – Tokyo 2020 – have passed and the Paralympics are upon us? Have you seen anything which touched or inspired you?
Where do I start? Tom Daley winning gold, I love watching the swimming – the discipline they have amazes me! I felt really sorry for Simone Biles in the gymnastics – all that pressure on her..
But I did love that the Germans wore full body suits… Then the Norwegian beach ball team got fined for not wearing “appropriate” clothing… mmmm – something not quite right there.. Surely it’s time that skimpy bikinis and shorts were something of the past?
I personally love that it all went ahead as it has given everyone something else to focus on and let's all get behind the Paralympics too.
Did you know last Saturday was World Entrepreneurs Day? What does this word mean to you and do you apply it to yourself?
Entrepreneur - a person who sets up a business or businesses, taking on financial risks in the hope of profit. – is that me? Yes I suppose it is but I think it’s much more than making a profit.
It’s about building relationships with clients, it’s about providing a solution to their problem, it’s about being the best you can possibly be and giving the best you can to your clients.
It’s about building something that I would love to think is a legacy..
Can you name one business you’d like to give a summer shout out too?
I would like to shout out to the Business Focusing Network group. I have never liked networking – but I love this group – it’s online, massively friendly and it sets me up every second Tuesday morning
As we move further through the pandemic, how are you feeling about the future of business in general in August 2021?
I am focusing on moving my business forward as always. I can see some businesses have ceased and some have thrived – there will be new businesses appearing as some may become obsolete.
Who would have thought that fast food delivery services would become so popular? It is sad to see that some hospitality areas have suffered as I do believe that being “social” helps massively for our well-being.
Have you got any events planned for the autumn you’d like to shout about – either that you are running or attending?
I will be running several support workshops for people living with bi-polar or people living with someone with bi-polar. This is an area of mental health that gets overlooked and it will be brilliant to bring together both therapists and sufferers.
And finally, August 16 is National Tell a Joke Day? Can you tell us a joke and raise a laugh?
Why did the man get hit by a bike everyday? He was stuck in a vicious cycle…
