George Hurlin from Zoek - Summer Q&A 2021

Let's continue to celebrate the variety of business owners we have in our region and beyond. Today we're talking to George Hurlin is President of Global Projects and Sales at Zoek job board, based in Cheshire.

JUNE is the first month of Summer – what will you be doing this summer in your business/organisation/role?

June is planned to be an exciting month in my calendar, with preparations to onboard a plethora of new clients, new partners, and plenty of new budgets. I look forward to seeing where the success takes the business and me personally.

What are your personal plans for summer activities if you feel happy to share? 

During the downtime I will be teaching my eldest daughter how to swim, after not getting much of a chance with the closure of facilities over the last year.

Does June hold any particular significance for you?

June marks my first anniversary of moving from operating solely in the UK to the worldwide position I am in now, taking Zoek from a national to an international presence in the global recruitment market.

June is National Smile Month. With that in mind, what things in role make you smile? 

Helping individuals in the business to reach their full potential.

Knowing that we are an active participant in getting people into work, during a unprecedently difficult time for employment.

Achieving success for the business, by personally creating and running campaigns that will ultimately take Zoek into profit.

Are there any things in business generally which make you ‘less smiley’?

Hour long meetings that could have been solved with a simple email conversation; it is the 21st century!

The messengers of the world, I see their uses, but I would much prefer to talk with people not through people!

June is often associated in nature with growth and abundance – what are your plans for growth this year? 

I will be spending a large proportion of this summer on education and self-development, with the end goal of becoming an expert in the field of digital recruitment advertising.

As we hit this mid point in 2021 and we’re still coming out of the pandemic – which one business has really supported or helped you over the last quarter? 

Microsoft for inventing the Xbox and helping me keep my sanity, during those long nights in.

Pampers, my second child was born amidst the chaos, not sure how parents functioned prior to disposable nappies. 

Have you got any events planned for the coming months which you’d like to mention – where you and/or your business will take a leading role?
