September Talk with Sean Harper from Just for Fun Holiday Club
September is here. It's the month when autumn officially arrives - the autumn equinox is on September 22. What does this month hold for you and your business? What are you looking forward to for the rest of this year? What events are pending for you? What advice would you give to others? What are you grateful for in September?
Today we're talking to Sean Harper who is a director of Just for Fun Holiday Club. The organisation provides safe, fun and activity led childcare for boys and girls between four and 13 years during the school holidays. The team operate from three venues based Swindon.
What’s coming up for your business this month?
September will be quieter as all the children are back to school. This for us will be a time to reflect on the summer and start to prep for October half term.
What are your personal plans for this month?
I need to get back looking after myself. I have neglected little things over the summer and need to get back to some routine and taking time out to look after myself.
World Gratitude Day takes place this month – what are you grateful for at the moment?
I'm grateful to the local borough council who have given us the opportunity to grow over the summer. We opened our doors to over 550 children and engaged these in lots of sports and activites to keep them busy during the school holidays. The council has been very supportive and its been a pleasure to work with their team.
Who are you grateful for at the moment?
I’m grateful that my partner is expecting a healthy little boy who will joining us next month! She has made lots of sacrifices as so many parents do, so I'm just grateful for her being so selfless.
What are your hopes for business in general this year?
I hope we can continue to grow and be the best provider of school holiday childcare in the Swindon area.
We have a great team and deliver such a wide range of activites that I see no reason why this can't continue to blossom.
I predict that we will open a fourth holiday club venue and get great local press coverage for the work that we do for the families of Swindon (and we'll be very grateful for that!).
And finally, as a bit of fun, September marks Teddy Bear Day? Do you have your childhood teddy bear – or are you a bit of a kid with ‘grown up’ teddy bears?
I have teddy bears all over the house. I gave one particular teddy to my daughter who now cuddles it to sleep. It’s a Chelsea pensioner teddy that my grandad gave to me. She loves it.
