Entrepreneur Arthur Dallimer, in collaboration with Swindon Borough Council, has received the green light to redevelop the Grade II listed building on Bath Road, which has stood empty for three years.
The project will include a flagship restaurant with seating for 90, a retail unit on the ground floor, and an upstairs co-working space designed for local businesses and freelancers.
In addition to Apsley House, several retail units on nearby Victoria Road will also be upgraded as part of the development.
Apsley House was previously home to the Museum & Art Swindon, which relocated to the Civic Offices on Euclid Street in July.
The new location offers improved accessibility, 40% more display space, and free entry, addressing issues that led to the museum’s closure during the pandemic.
