November Talk with Barbara Leatham

The end of November is already in sight and Q4 is well under way. What's been going on for you in your business or life? Today we're talking to Barbara Leatham of Barbara Leatham Photography who is a commercial photographer based in Tilshead, near Devizes. A former photographer with the RAF, Barbara has become well known in Swindon and Wiltshire.

What’s your business highlight for November 2021?
My business highlight for November is heading to Liverpool to photograph two wonderful ladies, Summer and Caroline, who are embarking on their own business adventure together. It’s wonderful to be helping a new business at ground level, find out what they are all about and then watch them evolve and grow.

And what about a personal highlight this month?
My daughter and I did a 10km walk and raised money for charity – we didn’t raise a lot of money, but I got to spend time with my daughter and made the most of the time outside.

November 13 was World Kindness Day – has anyone shown kindness to you in the last month or so?  
I get SAD over the winter months, so I’m grateful to have family and a ground of friends who get me out for walks and make sure I’m doing okay. 

 Are there any awareness days or special weeks in November which are relevant to your business or you?
Small Business Saturday on December 4th, so I’ll be preparing and supporting other small businesses on that day. It’s important to remember that small businesses are the backbone of the UK and contribute 47% to the economy.

And it’s true, whenever you buy from a small business owner, we really are doing a happy dance.

 Have you got any events planned for November or December you’d like to shout about – either that you are running or attending? 
I’ve got a very special photoshoot coming up over Christmas, I’m one of over 300 volunteer photographers across the UK that gift their time and services through The Butterfly Wishes Network to photograph families who have children with life limiting, or potentially life shortening illnesses. I’ll be photographing a young man with his sister and mum and dad. It’s always an honour and a privilege to be spending time with these wonderful families.
