November Talk with Mike Lloyd

IT’S NOVEMBER! – the year is coming to an end and Q4 is well under way. November is often known as ‘green’ month and with COP26 taking place in Glasgow it’s even more resonant this year. However it’s also the month of Movember, kindness and preparation for the festive season.



Today we’re talking to Mike Lloyd, managing partner of Haines Watts Chartered Accountants of Swindon, Trowbridge and Cirencester. Mike and his team offer all accountancy services and are also respected business advisors.

What’s your business highlight for November 2021?
The successful recruitment of 5 additional staff to continue our rapid growth. We are thrilled that our business is thriving and growing and we’re grateful for it. 

And what about a personal highlight this month?
My eldest daughter announcing that she is making me a grandfather for the first time, I think I am more excited than her and her husband!

Are you doing anything in November for charity or for a community or volunteer project? 
We have an ongoing sponsorship of Swindon Spitfires under 14s girls football team and are now accepting donations for the Swindon Christmas Toy Appeal. 

We also recently sponsored a charity golf day at Wrag Barn to support Hft which raised £8,000 for this fantastic charity.

Did you know November 13 is World Kindness Day – has anyone shown kindness to you in the last month or so? 
Too many to mention. It makes the world go around.

Have you got any events planned you’d like to shout about? 
Once again, this year we will be collecting for Swindon’s Christmas Toy Appeal to support families living on low income where parents or carers may not be able to afford new toys for their children. We are offering a collection point from this week. We can accept unwrapped new toys, new toiletries, new books and these will be wrapped centrally for nominated children aged 0-16yrs. There is also a link on their website for monetary donations too!

On a personal note, a belated 60th birthday weekend away with my better half, our grown-up children and their partners. Look out Appledore in Devon!

And finally:
It has been a tough year and a half or so and it has taken its toll on so many. It’s nearly over with luck but continue to keep a work/life balance and take care of both your physical and mental health. No-one wants to fall at the last hurdle. Stay safe and have a fantastic festive season!
