October Talk With Paul Holmes from PCH Business Support
It's October, the month of Halloween and the time when the clocks go back and we all get an extra hour in bed. How's the month looking for you and your business? How is it shaping up for you?
Today we're talking to Paul Holmes who is managing director of PCH Business Support – (soon to become PCH Business Consultants) based in Swindon. Paul and his team of associates operates across the South of England and are business consultants focussed on growth for larger organisations and offering full range of supporting business services.
What’s coming up for your business in Q4?
I'll be continuing to build out the new PCH Associates Team. Covid19 affected the family over the summer and delayed the launch of PCH Business Consultants – now likely in November as the new branding, website and additional team members are added.
PCH is also now a partner in Veloci-Tech a new scale up business accelerator based in Gloucestershire! So that's great news too.
This is a month for harvest and Halloween? Are either of these important for you in your business or organisation?
Not specifically in terms of what PCH does but both will be fun things for all of the team’s families!
Are you doing anything in October for charity or for a community or volunteer project?
I am involved with helping and supporting the Pimms in The Park, community celebration for the Platinum Jubilee in 2022 and will be a side project for PCH. Early preparations will get underway this month!
October 10 is World Mental Health Day – how important is this subject in your business and in your life?
Mental health affects us all, the pressure and stress from running a business, working in a job or having responsibilities to various organisations can be overwhelming.
This has been a factor building PCH and dangerously close to mental burnout earlier in 2021.
Part of building the PCH associates team is to take the pressure somewhat off my shoulders, I have also been working with my own coach on the business and on me personally.
What practical activities do you participate in at home or at work to protect your mental health?
Finding the balance between fun and work, family and business – PCH helps owners to design their businesses to work without them to avoid overwhelm – its just taken a while for me to take my own advice!
Clocks go back this month – an extra hour in bed? How do you feel about the darker nights etc?
The extra hour is always lost with young children in the house! It might be different when they are teenagers!
Have you got any events planned you’d like to shout about – either that you are running or attending?
There will be the launch of PCH Business Consultants in November and a formal launch of Veloci-Tech Business Accelerator (PCH is a Partner) as well.
And finally...
It’s been another tough few months, for PCH with Covid19 affecting us at home over an extended period, and that wasn’t fun!
Some clients struggling with lower-than-expected demand, increased costs, staff shortages and supply chain issues, have contributed to a challenging period.
Thankfully some September sunshine, welcome camping trips and even a live music festival have helped the end of the summer recharge the batteries ready to focus on the business and our clients in the autumn.
Celebrating five years of PCH over the summer was also a big milestone just slightly lost in amongst everything else! October is all about preparation and November promises to be a very exciting month indeed!
