My Back To Business Strategy
By Paul Eagles, managing director of Midwinter Web Design which specialises in offering modern, secure and effective websites and e-commerce sites for SMEs all over the UK.
Summarise how Covid-19 has affected you?
Lots of web projects have been put on hold, because companies are not confident in spending money in uncertain times. However, lots of companies realise the importance of a good website and are keeping their websites up to date with their latest news. So even though larger projects are on hold, we are doing lots of maintenance work and updating customers' websites.
What has been your plan to continue?
Be flexible and adaptable and work with our customers to meet their needs and keep supporting each other.
We have not stopped working as we can work from anywhere; safety is a big concern and we will continue to service our clients' needs and try to do meetings via Zoom and Skype etc.
What has been the most challenging aspect of all of this?
Maintaining cash flow and making sure we remain financially stable.
What has been the most positive aspect?
To realise what a good customer base we have and how we have all worked hard to support each other. Also to really value those suppliers who have stayed with us, given added value and been flexible around our needs. Both clients and suppliers have been critical during this period of time. The good ones are - and will be - at the front of our minds.
How important is this phrase to you – ‘buy local, supply local’?
Very important to me and my team. It's imperative to support your local business community and it is the foundation of our business model. It is this solid local foundation which has kept us going now and will be an even stronger base to build from in the future.
What are your top tips at this time?
1. Communicate constantly.
2. Be flexible with clients and suppliers.
3. Manage your cash flow and stay positive.
Your parting thought?
Be as flexible and accommodating as you can, we will get through this and be stronger for it!
