Your Total Guide To Business

Paul Holmes's 2021 Business Growth & Plans

Today we're talking to Paul Holmes who is managing director of PCH Business Support which delivers growth and helps overwhelmed business owners do a lot less firefighting.

April is here – how does this month fit into the ebb & flow of your year?

The start of April brought a welcome pause for Easter after an incredible first three months of the year.

Demand has been huge for businesses that want to get started again and grow as the pandemic nears a return to normality, tied with the end of this contract for the Oxfordshire Growth Hub where I have run well over 200 x 1:2:1 sessions, events and webinars its nice to have time to work on PCH and develop its next phase.

Are you in a business which is either opening up this month – or preparing to open up?

As a business consultant and advisor, demand for mine and PCH's services has been high since April 2020 and has steadily increased to 1st of January 2021 when it has gone nuts!. As a result, PCH has to expand its model in 2021.

What are you most looking forward to as the country tries to ‘open up’?

Finally having a little time has been the opportunity to do to my own company what I would normally do for clients, set goals, and work on the business model to achieve the desired outcomes.

I have now had provisional agreement from around 30 associates who will operate under the PCH brand, giving a much wider capability, greater capacity and confidence for clients – it’s incredibly exciting and slightly daunting but is the only way the business can grow without it being about how many hours I can deliver.

It’s also Stress Awareness Month, what measures have you taken in your business to reduce the stress on yourself & your team?

Finally managed to take some time out and take a couple of days back per week in April  - March was insane from a workload perspective and slowing for a few days was fantastic to find a little balance.

What do you do personally to support your health and wellbeing?

I have a network of mentors, advisors and trusted business colleagues who have kept me sane in the last 12 months – finally seeing the inside of the gym in April was also well overdue!

Do you see your product/service as one which supports the health and wellbeing of others such as your clients?

Very much - The core of the service PCH provides is helping MDs and owners to become more strategic, less operational, less firefighting, which allows the business to grow and become more profitable – reducing the owners direct workload reduces their stress and improves wellbeing and happiness.

As the year goes on, will you take health and wellbeing more seriously going forward?

In June PCH will be five and will switch from PCH Business Support to PCH Business Consultants - with an amazing team of around 30 associates and specialists. This will allow PCH to expand, help more clients but reduce my workload in the process and improve my wellbeing.

Have you got any Spring services or special offers you’d like to mention?

We continue to offer a Power Hour for £99 – this is the model used for the many 1:2:1s in the last 12 months with amazing feedback including:

“I was so inspired after speaking with you, and for the first time, in a long time, I felt like I had a path to my vision, rather than just the fog in my head, I have started making more time for my business and have already started to think about the changes I need to make.... Creating a proposition for more profitable clients. How did I miss this?

I feel so inspired. Thank you again.”

And finally:

If you are struggling with your business, overwhelmed by the workload, too much to do, struggling to survive let alone grow, or are growing too quickly to manage – then it's time to ask for help.

Asking for help is a sign of great leadership – and offers an external perspective that could transform your world and the business! Don’t wait until it's almost too late!
