IT’S NOVEMBER! The year is coming to an end and Q4 is well under way. We’re talking to business owners about their plans for the month.

Today we're talking to Rachel Weaven, HR Consultant of face2faceHR. Rachel offers tailored, flexible HR solutions to small – medium sized businesses in and around the Swindon and Marlborough area.

What’s your business highlight for this month or last month?
Myself and Louise Hunt Skelley had a really successful event through the CIPD showcasing our Building Bridges Event which is running on the 8th November and we are both really exciting about being able to offer this to business owners and creating the safe space for people to ask those questions more often than not that they are terrified to ask.

And what about a personal highlight?
I survived another half term juggling business and taxi service for my daughters but at the same time I am grateful for being able to spend that time with them whilst they want me. I am also about to take my grading for my greenbelt for kickboxing which I am nervous for but also super excited.

What’s your top tip for being positive as we enter the last month of autumn?
Get out in the sunshine while you can. My boys (two westies) get me out and about and it always makes me feel better.

Did you know November 13 is World Kindness Day – has anyone shown kindness to you in the last month or so? At home and/or work?  Tell us how you view kindness in your business or professional role?
My tagline is that I do HR for nice people, and I believe in a world where you can be anything you should be kind but if you can’t be kind then you should be quiet. However, that doesn’t always work which is a shame. It was my birthday last month and the kindness shown to me with posts on Facebook, LinkedIn and by my family and friends made me feel so special so will definitely be celebrating World Kindness Day.

It’s also Black Friday this month which is now quite mainstream – do you participate in this within your business? Or do you prefer the Buy Nothing Day?
Not within my business no but I do love a good bargain so yes will be partaking in Black Friday to see if I can get some Christmas pressies for my girls sorted!

Are you preparing for Christmas in your business? What are your plans are going to be?
I don’t like thinking about Christmas until after my birthday, but I am realising that I am leaving it later and later to get it sorted and it catches me out. I do close over Christmas to spend that time with family and friends and maybe a few Proseccos!

Have you got any events planned for November or December you’d like to shout about – either that you are running or attending?
As Regional Lead for Buzz Networking in Wiltshire alongside Mike Land we are excited to be attending our first conference to learn how we can grow this in the Wiltshire area. We have one in Swindon and Cirencester with Chippenham and Marlborough coming in the New Year. If anyone is interested in getting involved by sponsoring us then get in touch.
