Rachel Weaven of face2faceHR shares her fabulous plans for September!
September has arrived – what will this month bring? This month we’re asking business owners what the month will bring for them.
Up today is Rachel Weaven, HR Consultant of face2faceHR. Rachel offers tailored, flexible HR solutions to small – medium sized businesses in and around the Swindon and Marlborough area.
How was your summer as we go into autumn? Any highlights for you or your business?
Summer for me was great. It’s always difficult juggling my girls being off school and running a business, but I managed to take some time off and go to Cornwall for the week which was lovely and I also took my girls to London for the Friends Experience as we’re massive Friends fans in our house!
What’s coming up for your business in September?
After juggling the holidays it’s getting back into a new routine now that I don’t have the school run to do on a daily basis so that will take a bit of adjusting on my part!
It’s ‘back to school’ month or ‘start of university’ month, is this relevant to you personally or professionally?
For me, personally, it’s a big month for me as my youngest took her big step from primary school to secondary school and my eldest starts year 11 this year so it’s all going to be about GCSE’s, next steps and of course prom!
It’s also the Paralympics which end on September 8. Did you watch, what do you think of this tournament? Were there any standout moments for you?
I love the Olympics and the Paralympics I find it so uplifting and just goes to show anything is possible when you put your mind to it. I love how inclusive it is and how it brings everyone together because you want them all to do well not just your own country (of course that’s a bonus!) of course I’ve been keeping an eye on some of our local Paralympians Chris Skelley and Suzanne Hext.
World Gratitude Day takes place this month (Sept 21). What are you grateful for in your business/at home?
I’m grateful for my husband Matt supporting me in my journey, my gorgeous daughters for keeping it real for me and all the amazing people that I have met in my journey and have helped and supported me, and even some that have taught me lessons that I may not have liked at the time but it’s helped me grow and for that I am grateful.
What are your hopes for business for the rest of this year? Are you launching a new product, service, running an event or something else later in the year?
I really want to grow the training and people audit side of my business as I see it as much more of a proactive approach to managing staff and reducing the negative side that comes with employees.
And finally, September 30 is International Podcast Day. Do you listen to podcasts or do you have one of your own? Can you share a tip? Which podcasts should others check out?
I’m still getting used to podcasts which I know sounds ridiculous as there are so many of them, but I genuinely forget they are there. I love a few of the local ones as it’s nice hearing people I know.
