Your Total Guide To Business

Bowman House (Business Sponsor)
Steve Bucknell, general manager and valuer at RWB Auctions.

RWB Auctions are looking forward to 2024!

It's the end of January and the month has just flown by! Today we're talking to RWB Auctions about what's happening for them throughout 2024...

What big things are you looking forward to in 2024?
2023 has seen our team grow and prepare, with a lot of hard work and dedication, for the launch of our auctions, so we are all looking forward to welcoming sellers and buyers to our exciting calendar of sales and events that we have planned throughout 2024.

Can you share you business ethics for 2024? How do you want you brand to come across?
Our focus is and will always be to put our customers at the forefront of all we do, which is demonstrable through our forward thinking fee structure which allows all customers to keep more of the hammer price for themselves (£10 lotting fee, 10% seller's commission, 10% buyer's premium). We are a friendly, approachable and experienced team, who are able to give honest and trusted advice on the items that are brought to us for valuations.

What are you planning to do differently, or do better, in 2024?
Our centre is bringing a new focus to the High Street, by combining three exciting new businesses under one roof; our auction house, a contemporary art gallery (The View Gallery) and a bistro (Quercus). This combination is a new venture which looks to bring a wide range of events and activities to the centre of Royal Wootton Bassett. With the demise of the traditional High Street, this combination is providing an innovative and modern focus for the community.

What are you doing for charity or community this year? Please share any details you can.
Our centre will be hosting events and workshops throughout the year, bringing together the community for engaging and exciting events in line with our planned exhibitions and specialist sales. We will also be supporting local charitable events alongside these and will be sharing this through the course of the year.

There are multiple ‘awareness’ days, weeks and months in January 2024 –
could you pick just one and say why you’ll be engaging with it?

Jan 30- Feb 6 National Storytelling Week
Any piece that gets brought through our doors to be valued comes with a story, and these are often equally if not more exciting to hear than the item itself. Where or who it comes from or the history of the piece, there is a story behind every item. Our team will be sharing some of their favourites on our website and social channels

Any special offers for January or February 2024 you’d like to mention?
2024 is an exciting one for RWB Auctions, bringing a range of specialist sales throughout the year. January will see our coin sale on 31st January and a specialist toy, comics and collectables on 27th February. We welcome anyone with items they would like considered to be consigned to come and visit our teams at our new centre.

Anything else you’d like to say?
The creation of RWB Auctions, along with The View Gallery and Quercus Bistro has been a project that has galvanised the local community to really breath new life into a very well loved town. Having seen the development through 2023, it's 2024 where we get to truly share the space and welcome everyone through our doors to enjoy and participate in all we have planned.
