Swindon Business Lives: Jack Peploe
In this edition of 'Swindon Lives', we take a look at Jack Peploe - Managing Director of enviz Group, which was set up back in 2004 by this enthusiastic youngster; now 24.
1. Where is home and why?
Just outside of Swindon. I was brought up on a farm, so love to base myself and my business out in the countryside. I also love having the ability to easily access the town whilst benefiting from the peace and quiet of in the countryside.
2. What inspired you to set up your business here?
I think the fact that Swindon has always been renowned for being a fast developing business hub. It has a significant history with the GWR and NHS and has a pool of valuable employment resources. This and the fact that 65% of all households have broadband access which was the most in the whole of the UK, this just shows how Swindon is extremely eager to adopt new technology.
3. What advice would you give anyone looking to do the same?
Swindon is a great place to work but to really get the most from it you really need to get out and meet people.
4. What do you think attracts business people to Swindon?
I feel that Swindon is probably the most accessible town around, having the M4 as part of its ring road, as well as the A419, it is easy to get to other significant towns/cities such as London, Bristol and Birmingham relatively quick.
5. How do you like to spend your time off?
Well, I don’t really have much time off, as I have too much to do! However when I can I enjoy catching up with friends and as I am an adrenaline junkie, I enjoy doing as many crazy things as possible like – going to theme parks, motocross, skiing, kite surfing and bungee jumping!
6. Your phone book must be full of business contacts, but who is the most famous person in there?
Lord Joel Joffe, a Human Rights lawyer who represented Nelson Mandela in the Rivonia trial in 1963 -1964 as well as being the co-founder of Allied Dunbar and former chairman of Oxfam. Oh, and he is also an enviz customer!
7. Your 2pm meeting has been cancelled, meaning you now have a two-hour lunch break. What do you do?
I like to spend the time looking at ways in which I can improve the level of service our clients receive or maybe even look at what the next step of the businesses evolution will be. I love change sometimes a little too much. However running a group of technology companies it is key for me to use as much of my spare time to look at ways that can help the businesses stand out from the crowd and be at the forefront of its industry.
8. Describe Swindon in three words...
Thriving business hub
9. What has been your biggest achievement to date?
For me I think it would be the fact that we have 6 rapidly growing businesses that all have 100% customer retention. It is really important to me for my customers to be more than satisfied with the service or product they receive that’s why all my team are dedicated to going over and above the level that is expected from them.
