TGt Meets…Adam Howse of Future Planning

This is a special edition of TGt Meets, celebrating National Apprenticeship Week! We heard from Adam Howse, a Client Services Assistant at Future Planning Wealth Management.

1. What inspired you to pursue an apprenticeship?

The concept of "learning whilst earning" is what attracted me towards apprenticeships. It can be challenging to secure a job without the proper qualifications, but an apprenticeship encourages you to work while also studying instead of just attending college. This approach not only allows you to earn money but also enhances your knowledge and experience.

2. Which field are you working in and studying?

I am in the financial services industry, I am studying for the ‘Financial Services Administrator Apprenticeship’

3. What is one thing you look forward to when going to work?

I enjoy coming into the office and knowing that I will be learning something new, and if I am not learning then I am cementing the knowledge I have already obtained.

4. Can you describe a time when you faced a difficult challenge in your apprenticeship, and how you overcame it?

At first, I struggled with answering the phone and talking to clients, I then overcame the struggle by persisting and having great help from my colleagues, they helped to raise my confidence and allowed me to overcome my struggle.

5. How do you approach working with others, especially those who may have more experience than you?

I like to think I treat everyone with respect and that their job role does not make me treat them any differently. Almost everyone at Future Planning has more experience than me, I embrace that and know that if I ever have any questions or struggles, I can go to some very expertise people.

6. What is a long-term career goal that you have, and how will your apprenticeship help you achieve it?

I would like to become a mortgage adviser in the long term. It will not happen overnight but if I dedicate myself to the work and learning, then there could be a good opportunity waiting for me in the future. I didn’t have this ambition at first, it wasn’t until I joined Future Planning and experienced mortgages that I soon found a passion.

7. What’s one thing you hope to gain from this apprenticeship experience?

Knowledge and experience, I have gained so much already and can only learn even more.
