TGt Meets…Lucy Potts of Leonardo Hotels

For this installment of TGt Meets, we had the pleasure of interviewing Lucy Potts, read on to learn about her career and new role at Leonardo Hotels.

1. Tell us what your new role at Leonardo Hotels is and what it entails.

I have just taken over as Interim Hotel Manager, and I oversee the hotel’s commercial strategy, operation and compliance to ensure it is a happy and safe place to work but also a welcoming environment to stay in.

2. You have previous experience at Leonardo Hotels. What was your position and how do you feel its prepared you for this progression?

I have worked for the company for almost 6 years, my previous role was Deputy General Manager of the Leonardo Hotel Cheltenham. The hotel was a big meeting and events based business alongside 122 bedrooms.
I am also part of the Leonardo Hotel High Potential programme which most of our Hotel Managers and General Managers complete to progress to the next stage in their career. In my 6 years I have also had the opportunity to work on many group wide projects which prepares you to be able to juggle the life of a hotel manager.

2. What is an aim you have for your branch of Leonardo Hotels in Swindon?

To retain and nurture an already amazing team, and really show case our meeting and events space to our local market to show what we can offer businesses in the area. I believe you need to keep up with the trends and the market to stay relevant and I look forward to continuing to grow the hotel with the team.

3. Why should customers choose Leonardo Hotels compared to other local hotels?

In everything we do we challenge the benchmark of hospitality, we don’t take no for an answer. If we need to change something we will, if we need to adapt something we will, but most importantly our guests and people will always remain the focus of what we do.

4. What do you most look forward to when going into work?

In hotels no day is the same. You can learn so much in such a short period of time, and each day brings excitement and challenge.

5. What is your favourite part of Leonardo Hotels’ company ethos?
