TGt Meets... Nicki Goddard-Dady (International Women's Day Special)
In honour of International Women's Day, We've been speaking with the Payroll Manager at Banks BHG to discuss what it's like to be a woman in business...
Empathy – I feel it’s important to understand other people’s feelings and take this into account when in a business environment. Having fought with depression some years ago, I always consider that you need to be careful with people as you don’t understand the battle they may be fighting behind closed doors.
I was a single parent from my early 20’s so missed out on quite a lot of my son’s younger life developing a career and studying for qualifications, although we have maintained a close relationship and he has grown up very career minded and in his early 20’s himself now is doing very well in his job.
The only time this has happened was over pay. I left a job and trained a male replacement who was given a much higher salary than I was on, which was slightly soul destroying, but I had to let it slide.
Work hard, but have a life balance, enjoy time with your family as well.
In the past yes - not so much these days as women in business are not unusual.
Princess Diana, Queen Elizabeth 1, Dame Judi Dench, Serena Williams, Coco Chanel
Retired ideally, although I shall be too young. Looking forward to winding down a little but still wrestling with the business world maybe with a few more achievements.
