Running a payroll bureau service for clients, ensuring the stress of paying their staff is taken care of. Managing auto enrolment pension schemes, keeping clients compliant in all aspects of statutory and government law.

New challenges, there are always plenty thrown in the statutory law, you can never claim to know it all.
What are your next steps for you in your career? Just finished a pension qualification as I wanted to understand scheme administration more. With the new automatic enrolment laws, payroll professionals are now expected to be pension experts. To keep doing what I do and absorb new information along the way.
What’s your biggest achievement to date?
Probably raising a child single handed and with a full time career, it’s a big achievement when I can’t keep a house plant alive!
How do you spend your free time?
Relaxing, watching movies, listening to music, spending time with the family.
When faced with two equally-qualified candidates, how do you determine whom to hire?
I look for the right personality not always what is on the paper, I look for how people carry themselves in interview, how their body language comes across, and a little nervousness is always a good sign.
What is one characteristic that you believe every leader should possess?
A degree of empathy.
What is the biggest challenge facing leaders today?
Stress/Pressure, always a big challenge, the key is learning to manage it properly and sensibly.
What advice would you give someone going into a leadership position for the first time?
Have confidence, expect of people what you would expect of yourself.
