Entitled ‘Letters to the Designers of Tomorrow’, the evening is focused on bringing together professionals from across the built environment sector, with the panel considering the progress made in recent years and how innovation can continue to improve that journey.
Thrings is proud to be joint-sponsor the event on 27 June, which has been organised by the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) and the CIBSE Youth Engineers Network in collaboration with Women in Property (WiP).
Joining Ros on the panel will be:
Hannah Kissick, Innovations and Sustainability Associate for building services consultants CPW;
Georgina Taylor, Principal Sustainability Consultant & Chartered Environmentalist for engineers Hydrock;
Dr Natasha Watson, UK Embodied Carbon Lead for Structures at engineering consultants Buro Happold;
Cllr Nicola Beech, Bristol City Council Cabinet Member with responsibility for Strategic Planning, Resilience & Floods.
Once the panel has concluded, attendees will be invited to contribute to a time capsule with their thoughts around the industry and what the future holds, which will be sealed for the next generations to unearth in 2050 – the year the UK government has targeted for net zero.
Ros Trotman, Planning Partner and Head of Development of Land, said: “The future of the development industry is one that is filled with such potential and I am very excited to be chairing this dynamic and experienced panel as we explore what is on the horizon as we push towards net zero. We are definitely going to be in for a fascinating evening.
“It is great to be able to support organisations such as CIBSE and Women in Property through sponsoring this event. The work they are doing to promote the building sector, encourage sustainable practice and equal opportunities is remarkable. When this time capsule is eventually opened, I hope to see some of the ideas of the panellists and audience reflected how the industry looks then.”
