October Talk With Vickie Jennings-Smith from Caprigems Cleaning Limited & Caprigems Commercial Cleaning
It's October, the month of Halloween and the time when the clocks go back and we all get an extra hour in bed. How's the month looking for you and your business? How is it shaping up for you?
Today we're talking to Vickie Jennings-Smith who is a director of Caprigems Cleaning Limited & Caprigems Commercial Cleaning Limited based out of the Bristol area. The team offers bespoke high quality cleaning for domestic and commercial premises.
What’s coming up for your business/organisation in Q4?
I am very excited to have just moved into our brand new office in Bizspace in Bradley Stoke - literally on October 1.
This is a month for harvest and Halloween? Are either of these important for you in your business?
October 2017 was when I started the domestic cleaning business….. wow I can't believe it's four years ago!!
If you have a product based business & Halloween is an important time for sales – when do you begin preparation for this holiday?
Actually we start looking at Christmas around this time, many clients require deep cleans, and additional cleans whilst staff are away.
October represents several awareness months, please say if any are relevant to you?
Breast cancer awareness month is on our radar. Our wonderful staff are predominately women, with a few men!! Therefore we always encourage our staff to check themselves regularly.
Are you doing anything in October for charity or for a community or volunteer project?
As a company owner, I sponsor charities every month, and we also sponsor a local women’s football team.
October 10 is World Mental Health Day – how important is this subject in your business and in your life?
Mental health is very important matter and a very personal subject for myself and my family, and therefore it means I am very empathetic to all my staff.
The last 18 months during Covid19, poor mental health has been exceptionally high, and again I make it my business to always check in with my staff. I (usually) arrange local social events for all my staff showing them they are important, and they are supported too.
What practical activities do you participate in at home or at work to protect your mental health and that of your staff?
I am still learning to set time boundaries away from my businesses at the end of the day!!
Clocks go back this month – an extra hour in bed? How do you feel about the darker nights etc?
I love the sunshine, but I also quite like the brisk cold mornings as long as I am wrapped up warm!! I don’t like the dark mornings so much!!
Have you got any events planned you’d like to shout about – either that you are running or attending?
I am hosting a coffee/cupcake evening with my staff in the new office. I am also looking into a cuppa & cake morning in October for clients and staff.
And finally:
Thank you to all our wonderful clients, the past 18 months have been very strange uncertain time and I am so proud to have my businesses, fab clients and a growing team of staff after such strange times!!
