What We Love About Our Business!

As Valentine’s Day approaches, February is known as the month of love – or historically a month of ‘new beginnings’ – so we’re asking business owners across our Total Guide communities to share what they love about their own business.

Today we meet Charlott Fagergard, a co-director, of See No Bounds which is an online community centre with a fast-growing business directory. Charlott lives in South Wales with her partner and co-director Jamie.

What do you love about running your own business? 

• We love working with people 
• We love making people visible and bring out the character behind the brand
• We love helping people show their personality and their passion for their business as well as see them progress and with the right mix this will make the business prosper

What do you love about your business community? 

The variety of business owners who we get to work with and meet on a daily basis.

What do you love socially/geographically about your community? 

We love that we are within walking distance to a mountain, Twmbarlwm. 

As mountain walking and the outdoors is our favourite activity this has been even more important during lock down. If you follow us on social media we will often share our 'mountain adventures'. 

While we are locked down – name any business you have ‘loved’ and bought from in your community over the last few months? 

We loved meeting Scott Media and attending their webinars which is such good value for money.

Beverley Jones from Awaken Business Club provides an excellent membership and is always at the other end of the phone.

All our stall holders for our charity Christmas market had an amazing selection of products and we supported most of them but one of my favourites is the handmade soap from hub member Kristine Liane from Sav­_ _ ee Skin -no sh* added.

February 17 is Random Acts of Kindness Day – have you carried out any  random acts of kindness (business or otherwise) over the last few months? 

During the month of December, we decided to set up an online Christmas Market to help small businesses thrive. We invited everyone who wanted to take part free of charge to advertise through our website and our See No Bounds ‘The Hub’ Facebook page and did a full day of live streams so they could showcase their products. 

It was a huge success and we raised nearly £300 to donate to Newport and Usk Vale Lions charity. 

Has anyone shown kindness to you? 

Beverley Jones from Awaken Business Club has been my rock and I recently had a lovely little gift come through the post, totally unexpected. She always brings sunshine to our life and is always a helping hand both as a business buddy and a friend. 

Is Valentine’s Day a key moment in your business? 

Valentines will be an important day for all our hub members in retail. We will have lots of live streaming this month to give them a chance to showcase special treats for your loved one, your friend and/or yourself. Valentines in my opinion is not only for couples but for you to show love to someone that you care about.

What would your advice be to a business owner who is feeling ‘flat’ in February? 

Get the vison board out and start planning Spring. That will certainly get you in the mood and it is amazing what even some pictures of spring bulbs can do for your mindset.

And finally: 

February is the month of love but remember to show kindness and love throughout the year. Business can be hard and especially at the moment when many are working from home so give support and pick up the phone!
