Beat Boxes return to Swindon for Beat the Street Orienteering event

Beat the Street’s Beat Boxes will be returning to Swindon for one day on February 1st Feb as part of a fun free event. Beat the Street have partnered with North Wilts Orienteering who have designed a brand-new course and will be launching it this weekend.

Taking place on Saturday 01 February in West Swindon, the Beat the Street Orienteering event is a chance to take part in a giant treasure hunt across the area. Participants can use a specially designed map, look for clues and tap hidden Beat Boxes.  It’s also one last “Lucky tap” competition with the mascot Beattie up for grabs.

The event will also be using a mobile app option for those that like to add a bit of technology into their activity.  We will also have the paper versions for people who prefer a tech free way of playing.

The event is part of a series of activities Beat the Street are organising following the end of the game which saw more than 26,000 residents participate.

Stuart Arthur, Engagement Coordinator for Beat the Street, said: “Our orienteering events last year were incredibly successful, if you weren’t able to make it then there’s another chance.  Come along to discover more about your area, answer clues and tap some temporary Beat Boxes.  If you have missed the beep, or the fanfare, cha-ching, and chicken all of our sounds will be back in Swindon”

Beat the Street is delivered by Intelligent Health and is one of 59 Beat the Street games that will be set up across the South West and East Midlands using a new £3.3 million National Lottery funding grant from Sport England. The initiative has received further funding from Swindon Borough Council and Wiltshire and Swindon Sport.

Beat the Street Orienteering will be taking place on Saturday 01 February at Link Centre from 10.30am to 1.30pm, with registrations open from 10.30-12.00. Visit the North Wiltshire Orienteers website for full details  www.northwilts.org.uk.
