Media Make-up Students Wow at End of Year Show
Media make-up and fashion students at Swindon College wowed friends, family and colleagues at their spectacular end of year show at STEAM Museum on Thursday.
The excitement built as crowds gathered to see over sixty students showcase their talent and creativity in a catwalk-style show – with themes such as ‘out of this world’ and ‘Roald Dahl’.
After hours in hair, make-up and costume, students’ models took to the stage, dazzling the audience with an impressive array of bold make-up, hair and prosthetics, alongside elaborate and eye-catching outfits.
Media make-up diploma student Emma Browne, 16, had to create a look inspired by the theme of ‘under the sea’. She went for a coral creation on her friend and model Llama Zakhour.
“It took about two or three weeks just to develop the design,” said Emma. “I used deep tones to keep the theme of coral and the seabed.”
“We arrived at STEAM about 10am and I started off doing the hair because I knew it would take a long time - and it took two hours. It then took two hours to do the makeup ready for the rehearsal.’’
“We were so excited but I was a little bit nervous’’ Emma continues ‘’we had such an adrenaline rush and it was buzzing backstage. ‘’
“Afterwards I felt relieved because it went so well and everyone was so excited and the energy was amazing.’’
Media makeup lecturer Ellie Baskerville said she was amazed by the efforts the students put into their work.
She said: “The show was incredible. It’s a great opportunity for students to showcase their work after months of preparation. I’m incredibly proud of each and every one of them.’’
