New Website Gifted by Gel Studio’s For Swindon’s Homeless Charity

Swindon’s longest established homeless charity, Threshold Housing Link, now has a brand-new website thanks to local web design firm Gel Studio’s.

Graeme Leighfield, Managing Director, said: “I feel that it's our duty as business owners to give back where we can to worthwhile causes in and around our local community. Hearing about Threshold at a business networking event earlier this year, I immediately wanted to contribute our expertise towards this cause, to help in any way that we could. At GEL Studios we were only too pleased to donate a whole website to help Threshold realise their visions which included in-depth planning, design, and development”.

“Homelessness has many stigmas surrounding it - and we wanted to use our experience as digital storytellers to debunk these myths, change perceptions, and create long term awareness to members of the community. During the 9-5 we pride ourselves on getting to know our customers' businesses inside and out, so the opportunity to attend the 2018 Big SleepOut, seemed like a great way for us to do a similar exercise, and it most certainly was. The night was tough - with members of my team feeling very much outside of their comfort, and climate zones, however the end result was a much deeper level of understanding, and further confirmed not only the importance about the task that Threshold undertake, but also the need for it in Swindon and surrounding areas”.

“The end result of our work for Threshold is clear - a website that not only sets the correct perception of Threshold and its goals, but it also serves as a valuable place for information for those in need. A bonus to Threshold is that our unique approach to websites ensures that maintaining the site is kept to a minimum - so that time and resource is spent on helping, not doing administration”.

Carly Smith, Creative Director at Gel Studio’s shared her thoughts about taking part in Threshold’s Big Swindon SleepOut. Carly said: “I took part in the SleepOut last year and it was by no means an easy thing to do, but it certainly was worth it. It raised awareness and support for a great cause, but for me personally, it really put things into perspective”.

“When it came to working with Threshold on their new site, the SleepOut experience gave me a new level of appreciation and focus, really helping towards the creation of something that will hopefully make a big difference to them”.

Michael Keenan the charity’s Chief Development Officer said: “We are very grateful to Graeme and his wonderful team that have worked so hard with us shaping our website and we are thrilled with the outcome. For those that are interested in joining an incredible community event visit www.thl.org.uk and explore our events page where you can register to take part in Threshold’s BIG SWINDON SLEEPOUT 2019”. With the support we’ve received from Gel Studio’s and our ‘Business Against Homelessness’ partners it’s shaping up to be the biggest and most socially impactful SleepOut yet, please join us and make it so!”.
