Swindon Celebrates International Women’s Day 2016
International Women’s Day will be celebrated at the Central Library for the fourth year in succession next Saturday (5 March).
This year’s free event, which will take place at the Regent Circus library between 9.30am and 3.30pm, will honour the achievements of Swindon’s women in art, business, communities, and design and technology.
There will be a host of community group stalls and displays on the library’s ground floor plus talks offering advice on setting up in business and panel discussions. Girls Unplugged will feature performances of poetry, song and music from Swindon and around the world.
There will be a number of activities for children taking place in the Children’s Library including Technology of the Future demonstrations by Intel, an origami workshop plus a special storytime session.
Other events will also be taking place in Artsite’s No 9 Gallery and the Museum of Computing, all located within walking distance of the Central Library.
