Swindon College Open Evening Reaches New Heights
Swindon College’s open evening reached new heights last night (Thursday 12th May) as visitors were given the chance to take part in a number of sporting activities – including an 18ft climbing wall.
College Sports Maker Josef Thomas said ‘’our sport and leisure courses cover all aspects of sports science, coaching development and fitness, so we wanted to give prospective students just a small taster of the kinds of activities they can expect.’’
‘’It proved extremely popular on the night.’’
As well as the climbing wall (supplied by Gloucester-based ‘Warehouse Climbing’) visitors could also try their hand at laser pistol shooting. Reflective of one of the five disciplines associated with a modern pentathlon, the activity was delivered by the British Pentathlon Team themselves, whom the college are currently working with to deliver a number of inspiring and engaging sessions to their foundation learners.
Prospective students were also given the chance to explore the wide range of full-time, part-time, apprenticeship and higher education courses on offer – with talks and tours of the vast array of facilities on offer across sixteen vocational areas – including engineering and construction, hairdressing and beauty, hospitality and art.
Alongside teaching staff, the college’s team of ‘Student Ambassadors’ were also on hand to share their own experiences – offering help and advice to those considering enrolling at Swindon College.
For more information on courses across all vocational areas or to apply now for September call (01793) 491591 or visit www.swindon.ac.uk
