Wiltshire Property Firms Join Forces to Raise Money for The Homeless in Big Swindon Sleep Out

Wiltshire-based surveying firm, White Horse Surveyors, recently took part in an annual sleep-out that saw employees spending a night under the stars in a bid to combat homelessness in the UK.

Run by Threshold Housing Link, the event takes place every year and aims to highlight the difficulties experienced by the growing number of homeless people across the region. The event also prides itself on being the perfect team building opportunity for any corporate employees who want to demonstrate positive social actions and responsibilities, all whilst making a huge difference to people’s lives.

There were an incredible number of participants who took part in the event, both on-site and internationally. With 138 people in Swindon and a further 40 joining us via satellite in Holland, Zurich, Florida and Swindon Fire Station.

Almost a week on from the event, the total raised is already just over £20,000 and rising.

Elizabeth Graney, Digital Marketing Manager for White Horse Surveyors, told us: “The evening was enjoyable with good company and a great atmosphere but once the cold hit at 2am the reality of being out all night every night without your own home or a safe, waterproof shelter really hit. We were lucky that we were all able to go home and warm up, recover or catch-up on our sleep.”

Although we work in the property industry, it’s often easy to forget just how fortunate we all are to have a roof over our heads during these cold winter months. That’s why solidarity events like the Big Swindon Sleep Out are so important to us.”
