Let's Talk
Swindon Business Lives: Kevin Metcalfe
In our latest edition of Swindon Business Lives, we take a look at MD of local IT firm, Verelogic IT Solutions.
Where is home and why?
I currently live in Stratton St Margaret. Not only is it a friendly community to live in but also it is close to work for me.
What inspired you to set up your business here?
I didn’t actually set-up the company, but I took over as CEO of InfoSys LTD in 2010. Since then we have re-branded to Verelogic IT Solutions. Our business strives to deliver all the technical skills and resources necessary to meet businesses IT and software demands.
What advice would you give anyone looking to do the same?
I would advise to have clear goals, determination and build relationships with businesses within the town.
What do you think attracts business people to Swindon?
Swindon has a fantastic location. It’s situated right on the M4, which offers great links to the East and London and to the West with Bath and Bristol. Not only this but it has infectious people. There are so many entrepreneurs in Swindon, which is why there are so many people who test business models in the town. If it works here – it will work anywhere!
How do you like to spend your time off?
I spend all my time off with the most important person in my life, Dylan my son. We are massive sports fans so we predominately spend our Saturday’s supporting STFC.
Your phone book must be full of business contacts, but who is the most famous person in there?
I can’t actually tell you...but they’re very, very famous. I will leave you guessing on this one.
Your 2pm meeting has been cancelled, meaning you now have a two-hour lunch break. What do you do?
I have always been passionate about keeping fit, but since the Olympics I am even more so, which means my answer from now on will be to go to the gym.
Describe Swindon in three words...
Vibrant, passionate and honest
What has been your biggest achievement to date?
Having my son.
You've got 20 words to surprise us with. Go...
"If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Then quit. There's no use being a damn fool about it."
