David Flitcroft is "giving everything he's got" to improve Swindon Town's discipline issues

Swindon Town boss David Flitcroft was again left ruing his side's discipline issues after they conceded a 90th-minute winner to Cheltenham Town in Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Whaddon Road.

Cheltenham's last-gasp heartbreaker came about via a needlessly-conceded free-kick and, earlier in the match, a poor challenge from vice-captain James Dunne led to the hosts being awarded a penalty.

Debutant Reice Charles-Cook saved the spot kick, but that incident and the following free-kick, were two incidents in the latest of an ever-growing line of poor disciplinary issues surrounding the club.

Goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux is currently serving a four-match ban for abusing the officials following the 2-1 defeat at home to Coventry, and Dunne was sent off during that match.

His ban was later rescinded, but the same could not be said about winger Donal McDermott, who got a three-match ban for a horror two-footed lunge during the 4-1 loss against Barnet.

Speaking post-Cheltenham, Flitcroft said: "I think the whole thing, the whole culture, the whole environment might take longer than what I ever envisaged to make sure that you turn that culture into one that's positive, into one that's very respectful to each other [and] very respectful to match officials.

"[We] need to be disciplined on and off the pitch and I'm giving it everything I've got to make sure that we do change that culture because it needs changing.

"We've made big strides, and sometimes you don't always get that momentum that you want but I want to put those four or five wins on the belt and this team's capable enough to do that. We haven't achieved that today."
