Recipe: Classic Pancakes
We're not into those fandaggled syrup-drenched American style pancakes here at TGtS, for us it's all about sweet, simple and tasty!
With Shrove Tuesday upon us and the kids itching to get stuck in, we thought we'd give you a little helping hand in the kitchen.
Classic Pancakes
Ingredients
- 110g plain flour
- Pinch of salt
- 200ml whole milk
- 2 eggs
- 50g butter
Toppings
- Sugar and Lemon
- Honey
- Banana & Nutella
- Peanut butter
- Maple Syrup
- Blueberries & Natural Yoghurt
- Strawberries & Cream
- Sausage & Fried Egg
- Marmite
Method
1) Sieve the flour and salt into a bowl and make a large well in the middle
2) Now mix 100ml of water together with the milk
3) Gently crack the eggs into the well and begin whisking
4) Steadily add the milk and water mixture, into the bowl whisking as you go
5) Once you have a smooth batter and all of the flour has been incorporated leave it to rest for 30 minutes
6) Now whisk the melted butter into the batter
7) Grease a pan with melted butter and put it over a medium heat
8) Pour 2 tbsp of batter into the pan, ensuring it is evenly coated
9) Cook the pancake for about 60 seconds or until golden brown
10) Now here's the tricky bit, flip the pancake over and cook the other side for a further 30 seconds or until it freckles
11) Slide the pancake onto your plate, dust with sugar and drizzle with lemon (or add toppings of your choice)
