Full Steam Ahead For Swindon's New PizzaExpress
Swindon's pizza lovers are in for a treat as the 5th of September will see the new PizzaExpress open at the Swindon Designer Outlet.
The new restaurant, which can seat 120 diners, means empolyment for 30 new team members including eight pizzaiolos and 22 waiters/waitresses. Roughly 1,600 kilos of dough will be used in the first month as the team prepares to serve up 5,000 pizzas and 3,000 portions of PizzaExpress’ iconic Dough Balls.
Each PizzaExpress restaurant has a unique design – often utilising well known places, people or historical events from the locality as the basis. The Swindon restaurant is situated in the renovated listed building of the Great Western Railway works, so it has timber, blackened steel, rich leathers and industrial lighting throughout, with private dining areas having the appearance of railway booths, equipped with vintage rail carriage storage racks and mood lighting above. Add to that the imagery of train rivets and metal fret cut screens which give the appearance of train tracks.
Andy Proctor, manager of PizzaExpress Swindon, said, “We will have a beautiful new restaurant and can’t wait to show it off to our customers. We have a friendly and enthusiastic team who are looking forward to welcoming everyone over a delicious pizza.”
PizzaExpress’ most recent menu boasts classic Italian style and fashionable flavours as well as a wider range of low-calorie Leggera dishes which contain fewer than 500 calories. There are also four gluten-free options and a cheese-free pizza which is suitable for vegans.
Younger pizza-lovers are well catered for as PizzaExpress’ Piccolo menu is full of suitable tasty choices including ‘Create Your Own’ pizza, and starts at just £3.50. For budding chefs looking to celebrate a birthday, a Pizza Making Party will see them transformed into pizzaiolos so they can stretch, toss and top their own pizza and play party games before enjoying their culinary creations. So fun isn't exclusively for kids, adult Pizza Making Parties can also be arranged on request.
The restaurant also runs free visits for local primary schools, turning the kitchens into classrooms.
